Lonesome Highway

I took Lonesome Highway on a road leading to Monument Valley near the Arizona-Utah border in November of 2007.
What I like about this photo is the blackness of the road which adds to the loneliness of the desert landscape. The rock formations and the clouds frame the shot nicely.
I used my Nikon D80 with Nikon 18-200 VR lens, which was the widest angle lens I had. Since it wasn’t a busy road I was able to stop and get out in the middle of the street for a better shot. I enhanced this image slightly with auto smart fix in Elements 8.
*Abe’s of Maine no longer sells the Nikon D80, but we suggest the Nikon D90.
